Elsewhere’s 2012 season officially launches on first friday April 6th with a homecoming event–kicking off a new website, a line-up of 45 visiting artists from as far as South Korea and Australia and as near as Chapel Hill, and a host of special projects. In its 10th season, Elsewhere will open a new interactive library in May, host an after school program engaging high schoolers in civic engagement projects with new media, and present a series of special projects that inspire collaboration and creative connection in Greensboro and across the globe. Visitors, members, artists, and neighbors are welcomed back into a more beautiful, accessible, and interactive environment for creative transformation, experimentation, and exchange.
Join us for an evening of exciting of performances and workshops:
- An acoustic performance by Laila Nur from 7-10
- Join Louise Barry for the Artifact Orchestra, an improvisational music performance with the collected instruments of Elsewhere.
- Enjoy coloring and puppetry with Jessie Dodington
- Learn to hook rug with Emily Ensminger
- Check out Ben Gansky performing “I Need Help to Feel” from 6:30-6:50 in the Storefront Theater, and then continuing with “Taste My Sad” in the kitchen from 7:30-8:30
- Giada Tagliamonte will be talking about and showing pictures of her mural at the IRC
- Assist Elsewherians Aislinn Pentecost-Farren and Chris Kennedy rouse the library with a Book Chorus from 8-8:30
- Learn about our alley gardening with Kay Kelly from 6-9 or until it’s just too cold
