Justus Harris (he/they) is a healthcare design strategist, artist, and educator. He is a Stanford Medicine X 2019 ePatient Scholar and guest teacher, 2018-2019 Kennedy Center Citizen Artist Fellow and TEDx WakeForest speaker. At age 14 he was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and in 2016 combined his research with his design and art training, informed by his patient experiences, to found MedSculp with a multidisciplinary team of doctors, entrepreneurs, and technologists. MedSculp specializes in the development and consultation of data visualization, user experience, and patient communication strategies for healthcare institutions. MedSculp leverages the arts and humanities as research methodologies to extend the capabilities of design thinking. Justus is an advocate for patient-led research and innovation and uses a hacked DIY insulin pump.
