Elsewhere

Elsewhere is a museum and artist residency set in a 3-floor, former, thrift store. With people and things, we build collaborative futures.

Elsewhere
Instagram post 17892174013438763 Explore the world's only thrift store turned museum — and the interns who live in it! Share a craft cocktail with Elsewhere's intern group #43 as they present their group art show. The interns have played vital roles in Elsewhere’s progression, while absorbing the magic Elsewhere provides. There will also be a special performance by Pearl - Elsewhere’s very own Janis Joplin tribute artist!⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Communications intern Nich Graham’s (@tsverie) artistic practices revolve around storytelling through multiple mediums -- creative writing, photography, multimedia pieces & installations -- to stir emotions within participants. Nich is creating an interactive multimedia mural at Elsewhere collaged with plant matter and dyes made from his time here.⠀

As a queer woman of color, Programs intern Yari De Jesus (@spoopyyari.art) uses art, art history, and inspiration from the 80’s ballroom scene to create better opportunities in art spaces for queer artists of color. Yari is constructing a wall mural in Elsewhere informed by her inspirations and identity while living in a predominantly white space.⠀

Haley Schnebele (@h_schnebs_art), Elsewhere’s House intern, uses woodworking, metalworking, painting, drawing, and fiber arts to construct different projects centered around observation, data collection, and scientific inquiries. Combining her interests and practices, she will be constructing a large Victorian-era style curtain from our immense textile collections that will span across the collapsible doors on the first floors street-facing stage. ⠀

You can learn more about #Int43’s art and processes during their Intern Talk tomorrow from 3:00 to 4:00 pm! Elsewhere’s museum, artist residency, and internship programs rely heavily on community support (that means you!). You can support Elsewhere by becoming a member, making a donation, or even sponsoring our internship program! To learn more about ways to give, visit the link in bio. 💕⠀
