Dahn Gim’s work explores hybridity both in concept and materials. Living abroad as a foreigner since age 10, she finds herself continuously vacillating between the familiar and the unfamiliar, a condition that stems from her personal experience and struggle with her hybridized identity and surrounding. With an experimental curiosity in a range of different media including video, sculpture, and performance, she subverts and confronts the feelings of vulnerability, discomfort, displacement, and isolation that arise from those experiences.
