Ambivert: Section (1,2,3) created by sleeper is a series of three extravagant wearable sculptures that lead a kind of double life. On display in the accessories room at museum, they stand alone as visually compelling art objects encasing the forms of mannequins as architectural dwellings for the body. They also come to life as vehicles for performance and movement as their wearers and those around them respond to their exuberant colors, comic forms and otherworldly appendages. As helmets they protect and cushion the body from the outside world extending the function of skin and tapping in to the identity altering power of fashion. With stark lines, hot colors and bold geometrical forms, Sleeper draws on the sun infused art deco architecture of his native city, Miami.
